      Library card

      To get a library card you need to fill an application form with your personal information and show your identification to the library staff. The first library card is free. If you lose it you can have a new one in exchange for a small payment. Children under the age of 15 can have their own library card with permission of their guardian. The guardian is accountable for the loans of the child.

      Schools, day care centers and other institutions can also be granted a library card. One person at the institution, over 18 years of age, needs to give their written consent and be the one responsible for all the loans.

      The library card is for personal use only, and it is to be shown every time you borrow library material. You are responsible for all library material borrowed with your card. Inform the library if you change your name, address or telephone number. Also inform us if your card is lost.

       

      Loan periods

      The loan period differs depending on what type of material you borrow:

      • Books and audio books             28 days
      • Magazines, CD:s and DVD:s    14 days

      The due date is printed on the receipt you get when you have borrowed from the library. All library material can be renewed if it is not reserved for another customer. You can return your loans to any library in the municipality. Library material can also be returned to the return boxes at each library when they are closed. The returning date will then be the date when the library opens again.

       

      Web library

      You can renew your loans, reserve library material and change your contact information in the web library. To access the web library you need your library card and a four-digit PIN-code. You get a PIN-code by visiting the library, it is not possible to get the code via phone or e-mail. With the PIN-code you can also borrow e-books at the Fredrika webpage.

       

      Reminder about loans soon to expire

      You can ask the library to send you a reminder of loans that are about to expire. An e-mail will then be sent to you two days before due date. You can also get a message to your e-mailbox regarding material that your children have borrowed. Let us know if you would like to receive these messages and to which e-mail address. Please observe that this service is only a reminder and does not take away your responsibility to return borrowed material on time. You can check the due date on the receipt you get when borrowing, by logging in at My pages or by calling the library.

      If you do not receive the agreed e-mails from the library please check that they are not labelled as spam. In that case mark korsholm.fi as a safe sender by changing your e-mail settings.

      Material that is returned late (the number of loans does not matter):

      • Fines for late delivery 1   2 euro
      • Fines for late delivery 2   5 euro  (+ fee for earlier reminders)
      • Fines for late delivery 3   10 euro (+ fee for unreturned material)

      When borrowed material is reserved by another customer a message is sent to the one having the material as soon as due date has passed. The fee for this message is 2 euro.

      A person who has more than 25 euro in fees cannot borrow more library material before paying off the debt.

      The fees need to be paid also when you have returned material late to the return boxes.
      As a library customer you are obliged to pay for damaged, lost or unreturned material. The library will not reimburse material that has already been paid for.

      Pressreader - today's newspapers from over 150 countries. 

      Pressreader is a service that provides digital newspapers and magazines from all around the world. Sign in with your library card and pin code to get unlimited access to Pressreader’s full selection.

      You can also use Pressreader on your smartphone or tablet without signing in when you visit the library and are connected to the library’s wireless network.

    • Naxos Music Library

      Naxos Music Library offers streaming access to classical, jazz and world music.  Access to the e-music collection requires authentication with your library card. The NML only offers streaming access - you can't download any files to your own computer. You may listen for a maximum of two hours - afterwards you can log in for a new session.

      Ellibs - E-books mainly in Finnish. Access with library card number and PIN code

      Circulation of library materials

      • Loan periods vary according to the type of material borrowed but are never longer than four weeks
      • The date for return is printed on the date due receipt
      • Loans can be renewed up to a maximum of five times.
      • Books will not renew if they have been recalled by another library user
      • An overdue fine will be charged for overdue library material
      • You may place a hold on a book that is not currently available
      • A book that is not available in the library collection can be requested from another library by regional or interlibrary loan. A fee is charged for each regional or interlibrary loan request.

      • Library cards are issued free of charge
      • To obtain a Library card, you must present a picture ID, verification of your name,address and signature and complete a Library Card Application Form

      • A small fee is charged for a new card.
      • Signing the card means you comply with all library rules and policies
      • Signing the card means you are responsible of use and return of all library materials
      • Customers 14 years of age or younger must have their cards signed by their parent or guardian.

      Biblio

      Biblio has a wide selection of e-books and audio books in Swedish and there is also an extensive range of e-books and audio books in English as well as other foreign languages. Access with library card number and PIN code.

    • Viddla - film streaming service

      Viddla is a streaming service where you can borrow movies with your library card and PIN-code

       

      How to use Viddla:

      Start by choosing the movie you want to watch. Under the menu Films you can filter the selection by choosing a genre or an audience. Click on the picture of the movie you want to see and click on Play film. Choose your library and enter your library card number and your PIN-code. The movie is available for 48 hours and can be watched as many times as you want during this time.

       

      Restrictions:

      You can borrow a maximum of three movies per month. The library has budgeted a certain amount of money for each month, and if the limit is reached no one can borrow movies until the next month.

       

      Age limits:

      Viddla’s age limits are set according to the Act on Audiovisual Programmes. You can read more about the age limits on KAVI's website.

       

      Language:

      When watching a movie, you can choose the language of the subtitles by clicking on the gear icon.

       

      Resume watching a movie:

      Viddla has no log in-button. You can resume watching a movie by searching the movie, clicking on the Play film-button and entering your information. Viddla remembers that you already have borrowed this movie.

       

      Watch a movie on TV:

      There is no smart-TV application for Viddla, but it can be used with e.g. Chromecast or AirPlay. You can also watch the movies directly on your computer or tablet computer. Find out more about how Viddla works on different devices here.

       

      Only in Finland:

      You cannot use Viddla abroad.

      Lost or Damaged Material

      Lockers will be emptied every night. To enquire about items left in the lockers, please contact the police lost property office.

    • Mobile Stage - cargo bike

      You can borrow the Lila cargo bike with associated sound system in the main library. The bike is loaned from the beginning of May to the end of October.

      You can find the cargo bike at the entrance next to the Drama-hall. You can borrow it with your library card at the main library's Info desk. When the loan period ends, you return the bicycle to the same place outside the Draama-hall and return the key to the Info desk.

      The bike's loan period is a maximum of 3 days. 

      The mobile stage is a collaboration with VAMK and the Regional Council of Ostrobothnia.

      · In the main library, there is a cargo bike Mobile stage, which includes a Babboe Transporter 3 speed cargo bike and a sound system with accessories: LD Systems Road Jack 10, Shure SM58S microphone, XLR cable, instrument cable and a 3.5mm AUX cable.

      · 3 gears.

      · Helmet.

      · The cargo bike can be reserved. The bicycle with its contents is stored at the Main Library and is not transported between libraries.

      · A cargo bike loan is renewable once.

    • Pop up library

      The pop up library brings the library out beyond its walls to you. Spot the book bike Laina at the railway station, the market square, a shopping centre, or a public event. Visit the pop up library to borrow books, renew your loans, and to find out about library services.

      Invite the pop up library to your public or private event. We will bring a selection of books and other materials handpicked especially for your event. Please, contact us at least a month in advance to make sure that the book bike is available on the date of your event.

      General rules

      • The library is open to anyone who follows the library's rules.
      • The first library card is free and you get it by filling in a form with personal and address information and showing valid identification.
      • When you sign the library card's agreement, you undertake to follow the library's rules. You are responsible for the material borrowed on your card.
      • Always notify the library of name, telephone and / or address changes.
      • Also notify the library if you lose your library card.

      Library card

      Anyone who has reached school age can get a library card by filling in a form with personal information.       Närpes City Library offers its customers access to e-newspapers and magazines. PressReader contains over 7000 newspapers and magazines from more than 100 countries in 60 different languages. When you use PressReader, you can download newspapers to your own tablet, smartphone or laptop when connected to the library's wireless network. Once you have downloaded a magazine, you can read it even if you leave the library. 72 hours after leaving the library, you can also still download new magazines. Wireless network is available at the main library, the library bus, Övermark library, Pörtom library and at SÖFF.

      • Connect your tablet, smartphone or laptop to Bibliotek.Guest, the library's wireless network (passwords are provided by staff).
      • Start PressReader to download your favorite newspapers from the service.

    • Fees

      The overdue fee is 3 € per sent overdue notification letter. The library sends out a maximum of 3 demand letters, after which an invoice is sent for the unreturned material.

      Copies and printouts
      Black and white copies 40 cents per page
      Scanning is free of charge.

      Interlibrary loans
      If you require an item from another library in the Fredrika network or Vaasa city library the fee is 2 €.

      If you require an item not in stock in any of the Fredrika libraries, it can be requested from other libraries through interlibrary lending. Interlibrary loans follow the general terms of use for the supplying libraries' loans and loan times and cost at least 4 € per pc, the fee depends on the borrowing library's possible fees. To order an interlibrary loan is free of charge, the fee is paid when you get the requested material.

      We send interlibrary loans free of charge to other libraries.

      Celia is a national center for accessible literature and publishing in Finland, working toward equality in reading and learning. Celia’s aim is to work towards equality for persons with print disabilities, in terms of access to literature and information. Celia produces and distributes literature in accessible formats, such as talking books and braille books, together with public libraries and publishers.Via your library, you can register as a user with Celia and thus get access to their range of materials. Celia’s book collection boasts more than 40 000 talking books and about 8 500 of these are in Swedish.

      • The library is open to anyone who follows the library's rules.
      • The first library card is free and you get it by filling in a form with personal and address information and showing valid identification.
      • When you sign the library card's agreement, you undertake to follow the library's rules. You are responsible for the material borrowed on your card.
      • Always notify the library of name, telephone and / or address changes.
      • Also notify the library if you lose your library card.

      Library card

      Anyone who has reached school age can get a library card by filling in a form with personal information. For children under the age of 15, the guardian's signature is required and he or she is responsible for the library card.       Loan period

      Närpes City Library offers its customers access to e-newspapers and magazines. PressReader contains over 7000 newspapers and magazines from more than 100 countries in 60 different languages. When you use PressReader, you can download newspapers to your own tablet, smartphone or laptop when connected to the library's wireless network. Once you have downloaded a magazine, you can read it even if you leave the library. 72 hours after leaving the library, you can also still download new magazines. Wireless network is available at the main library, the library bus, Övermark library, Pörtom library and at SÖFF.

      Instructions:

      • Connect your tablet, smartphone or laptop to Bibliotek.Guest, the library's wireless network (passwords are provided by staff).

      Interlibrary loans
      If you require an item from another library in the Fredrika network or Vaasa city library the fee is 2 €.

      If you require an item not in stock in any of the Fredrika libraries, it can be requested from other libraries through interlibrary lending. Interlibrary loans follow the general terms of use for the supplying libraries' loans and loan times and cost at least 4 € per pc, the fee depends on the borrowing library's possible fees. To order an interlibrary loan is free of charge, the fee is paid when you get the requested material.

      E-mail reminder

      • You can ask the library to send a reminder of your loans that are due soon. The notice will be sent by e-mail a few days before the due date. Then it is easy to log in to My pages and renew the loans or return them to the library. This can be arranged by giving your e-mail adress to the library.
      • The customer is responsible for delayed loans even in the event that the message is not received for some reason.

      Lost or damaged material

      • Library material that has been damaged or lost should be replaced by the customer.
      • The material can be compensated by replacing it with a new copy or paying the compensation determined by the library.
      • Movies, CDs and DVDs cannot be replaced with a new equivalent copy due to the copyright reasons.
