Exhibition wall

You can reserve the exhibition wall Galleria Salmi for one calendar month at a time and it is free of charge. Reservations will only be accepted for one year onwards. You can make an initial reservation request at varaamo.hel.fi. The instructions for organizing an exhibition at the library can be found here.

Rainbow shelf
The rainbow shelf improves the discoverability and equality of LGBTQIA* material in the library. Library staff stock the rainbow shelf with materials for adults, young people and children that describe the life of sexual and gender minorities and rainbow culture mainly through positive representation. Homophobic and transphobic material does not belong on the rainbow shelf. Rainbow shelves can be found in several Helmet libraries, and all their materials can be reserved and borrowed in accordance with the Helmet rules of use. The material placed in the rainbow shelves of Helsinki City Library can be found in the Helmet database with the search word “sateenkaarihylly” (“rainbow shelf”).

Registering as a Celia online customer

Audiobooks in the Celia library are intended for people with various challenges with reading. As an online customer, you can use your device to listen to any of the 40,000 audiobooks in the library collection, and as a CD club customer audiobooks will be delivered to you at home every month. You will need a picture ID for registration. People under the age of 15 need a guarantor.

Self-service library

During self-service hours, there are no staff at the library, but the facilities are monitored technically with the use of cameras, for example. During self-service hours you can check out and return material, use customer computers, read magazines, work or have meetings at the library. The wireless network is at your disposal. You can open the library door an enter by placing your library card below the device at the door with the barcode facing up and entering your four-digit PIN code. If you do not have your PIN code, the library staff will provide it to you during service hours.

Self-service printing

You can print A4/A3 black and white or colour prints on the customer printers. Price €0.40 per one-sided sheet, €0.80 per two-sided sheet. Customers can also use the Papercut self-service and mobile printing service from their own devices.
